Black Label 14″x7″ Snare with Aged Pearl inlays, rolled steel hoops

Today’s post features a Black Label snare in the popular Perfect Brown satin lacquer, but with a few custom touches that set it apart from the rest. A 1/4″ Pre-Aged Pearl inlay is beautifully centered in the middle of the shell and goes well with the cold rolled steel hoops and vintage style claws. The 8-Ply Maple VSS shell, Trick GS007 throw off, Puresound snare wires, and solid brass tube lugs are all standard features. With a variety of unique sizes and features, this Phattie Custom Shop kit is a real head turner. The 10″x10″ rack tom, 14″x12″ hanging floor tom, 16″x12″ gong drum, and 26″x10″ bass drum all feature a deep walnut-to-black satin lacquer burst. Natural maple laser-engraved badges compliment the finish, as does the satin black powder coating on all the hardware. Gauger Alloy RIMS mounts are standard equipment on Phatties, while the genuine Pearl spurs, 12-lug bass drum, and custom painted Yamaha style wood hoops were customer spec’ed to make this kit something special. Black Label 14″x7″ Workhorse with Cold Rolled hoops

This 14″x7 Black Label snare drum features 4mm thick cold rolled steel hoops for a great wide-open sound. Thicker than traditional single-flanged hoops, these 4mm steel hoops provide a great wide-open tone but have thick rim shots similar to a diecast hoop. Combined with vintage-style claws over a perfect brown satin lacquer, this is one classic looking beauty. Check it out:

Nesting kits are great for the drummer on the move. Easy to pack and port around, each nesting kit we build can be transported in a single case. This Phattie nesting kit features a 10″x8″ rack tom, 14″x11″ nesting floor tom, 18″x20″ nesting bass drum and a matching 14″x5″ snare. Each drum includes a soft case that slides smoothly inside the next drum. 10″ fits smoothly into the 14″ floor tom, and the floor tom and snare both fit cleanly inside the 18″ bass. Beautiful inlaid wood hoops and a modern mahogany satin lacquer prove that nesting kits don’t have to be just utilitarian, they can be beautiful as well. Check it out:

An 8-lug setup and vintage style wood hoops give this Black Label custom snare a ton of body and a nice old school sound. The finish is Perfect Brown satin lacquer and features True Gold Glass Glitter inlays on the vintage-style wood hoops. At the core is a 14″x6.5″ 8-ply maple shell fitted with a Trick GS007 strainer and Puresound snare wires. Another perfect blend of modern touches and classic style, check it out:

Black Label jazz kit in light Birds Eye with Abalone inlays

This Black Label set recently came back through the shop on it’s way to a new owner. The finish was freshened up and the beautiful results can be seen below. At the core are the 100% maple 8-ply shells in a 12″x8″, 14″x14″, and 20″x16″. A veneer of light Birds Eye Maple and a 1/4″ strip of Abalone are protected beneath many layers of a perfect satin lacquer for a stunning, yet subtle finish. Radio King style hardware and heavy duty spurs complete the package, for a “retro-mod” style kit. The best of what’s old combined with the best of what’s new, in a very classy package. Check it out:

Another beautiful execution of our Perfect Brown satin lacquer, a beautiful shade of walnut that looks perfect on any drum. This kit features a 13″x9″ rack tom, 16″x16″ floor tom and a 24″x16″ bass drum. Custom touches include laser engraved maple Phattie badges, white pearl inlays centered below the resonant lugs, and our Victorian shield logo on a Fiberskyn head. In the words of the new owner:

“The drums got here just like you said and they are great! I took everything out and hit each piece seperately and everything sounded amazing. The toms were so big and punchy and didn’t need any muffling at all which is really hard to come by. The bass was HUGE and sounded like it was mic’ed and EQ’ed perfectly. The perfect brown finish, the white pearl inlays, and the wood badges go perfect together. Definitely some of the best work, I couldn’t ask for a better kit. Can’t wait to use this at my next show! Thanks so much!”

The Burnt Sienna satin lacquer is one of those perfect shades of red and orange, with deep wood undertones. Today’s Nesting Cocktail Kit features some touches from the Custom Shop that turn it into a real head turner. Sizes include the standard 10″x6″ snare, 10″x8″ rack tom, and 16″x24″ cocktail drum. Custom touches include a beautiful Burnt Sienna satin lacquer with a light fade that continues onto the yamaha-style wood hoops. The nearly seamless nesting feature blends right into the finish, and tube lugs replace the usual Radio King style lugs for a modern vibe. Check out the last photo for the contour cut spacers used on the floor tom leg brackets, airbrushed to match the fade on the shell. It’s all about the details, and this setup pulls them together into a beautiful package that fits into one bag.
