In case you missed it, check out this beautiful Red Glass Glitter & Clear Hybrid Kit, then check out these cool accessories crafted to match. The stick holder is 6″ in diameter and is fully wrapped, even on the bottom, to match the kit. The laptop tray features 1/4″ heavy duty acrylic with a recessed tom bracket for mounting, and a glass glitter wrapped edge tapped and bolted into the acrylic to keep things from sliding around. Adding these accessories is another cool example of “if you can think it up, we can make it look good”. Dig it:

This kit features a unique blend of options, for a broad range of setups. The rack toms are 10″x7.5″, 12″x8″, and 14″x10″. The floor tom is a 16″x16″, and is paired with a matching 18″x18″ cocktail drum. Rounding out the setup is a 20″x18″ bass, a 10″x3.5″ timbale, and a 13″x3.5″ cocktail snare. The setup possibilities are endless! The matching 18″ cocktail drum can double as a 2nd floor tom, or can be used as a single floor tom with the 14″ rack for a big rock setup. The 10″ and 12″ rack toms can be mounted on the 18″ cocktail drum, along with the 13″ snare, for all types of smaller gigs. A 10/14/20 setup for jazz night? No problem! Friday Flashback! First kit for the Eli Young Band…

This week we had the opportunity to supply some cool prototypes to Chris Thompson of the Eli Young Band. He’s got some cool new snares to try out on the road…but more on those next week! Today’s Friday Flashback is the first kit we built for the Eli Young Band sometime in early 2006. This kit featured a 12″ rack tom, 14″ and 16″ hanging floor toms, and a deep 22″ bass. The finish is a red glass glitter with silver sparkle stars, and custom silver metallic/sparkle powder coating that shimmered under the lights. This was the first of many cool kits we’ve built for them so far, check it out:

This Deluxe model Cocktail Kit features a 10″x6″ snare, 10″x8″ tom, and 16″x24″ cocktail drum, our standard sizes all in 8-ply maple for the best in portability and sound quality. The red glass glitter finish really pops, and this kit looks great with the custom smooth-top brackets. Great way to start a Monday morning:

and a listen to the sound of his Phattie Drums. Recorded on a Zoom Q3 with no post-processing, so the audio is true to the drums. Crank it up on a good set of headphones or speakers to enjoy the sweet bass tone. The toms in this clip are 12″x8″, 14″x12″, and 16″x14″, all with Evans G-Plus heads tuned nice and high. The bass is a 24″x20″ with no ports for that deep full sound, and the snare is a 14″x6″ 20-ply vented, all from the Phattie Classic Series. Check it out:

Jason Godek is the hard-hitting drummer behind Kill the Drama, out of Pennsylvania. Jason rocks a Phattie kit with a 13″x9″ rack tom, 16″x15″ and 18″x16″ floor toms, 24″x20″ bass drum, and a killer 14″x7″ snare. The finish is Silver Glass Glitter with a red glass pinstripe, looks great on stage, check it out:

This sweet little setup features a 16″x16″ main drum and 12″x6″ snare in gold glass glitter. The wood hoops feature a smooth semi-gloss black lacquer and red glass glitter inlay for a classy look and different tone. Using a shorter main drum makes cocktail drums easy to play while sitting down, and lets you use a hi-hat stand. Great for light-weight gigs where a real hi-hat would come in handy:

This kit is a standard Deluxe Cocktail Kit with a custom wrapped finish. Silver glass glitter featuring a red glass glitter inlay framed by thin strips of true black glass glitter. The sizes are standard Deluxe, with a 16″x24″ cocktail drum, 10″x6″ snare, and 10″x8″ tom. Upgrades included DW hihat and cymbal arms for this particular kit.

This Phattie Custom Shop kit features great sizes for some serious rock. The rack tom is a 13″x9″ and the floor toms are 16″x14″ and 18″x16″, all 6-ply maple. The bass is a massive 26″x16″ 8-ply maple, and the snare is a 14″x6.5″. The Radio King style lugs are special order on Phatties, and look great against the red glass glitter finish.

A little blast from the past…

Been feeling a little nostalgic this week, having crossed the 10-years-in-business threshold recently. So for today’s good times, here’s a shot of my first kit I bought myself back in the day. I believe they originated in the factory that eventually became Pearl. Japanese imports with Slingerland knock-off hardware, and a very faded Red Glass Glitter finish. 12″x8″, 16″x16″, 20″X14″, and a 14″x5.5″ snare. Found them in a classified ad from a pawn shop around 15 years ago, and to this day they still get a little stick time.
