Phattie 13″x8″ Copper Collection Snare, 4mm Cold Rolled Steel Hoops

Another beauty from the Copper Collection, this Phattie snare features the Drip-Etched Copper finish over a 13″x8″ 10-ply maple shell. 4mm thick cold rolled steel hoops and machined hoop clips give this drum a unique industrial look that goes great with the custom finish. Check it out:

2011 has been a great year filled with many awesome experiences! We’ve been able to work with a ton of great drummers with great ideas, and turn those ideas into amazing kits. The best part is watching these guys exercise their talent on a set of drums we built, and see the enjoyment they get out of a finely crafted instrument. Here are a couple of video highlights from the year, from two of my favorite artists:

The Eli Young Band has had an amazing year, with Chris Thompson driving the beat from his Phatties. Their hit Crazy Girl made it to #1! Here’s the official video, featuring a beautiful set of Phattie Drums in pre-aged pearl with inlaid wood hoops:

Later in the year the Eli Young Band had the opportunity to play Letterman. At this point Chris was playing his new baby-blue Phatties, and Letterman gives the drums a little shout-out at the end of the performance, check it out:

This year almost marked a banner year for the Avett Brothers. Here’s a clip of them playing the Grammys in a very cool performance that included Mumford & Sons and Bob Dylan. Drummer Jacob Edwards was using his Black Label 14″x6.5″ snare:

Most recently the Avett Brothers played Laundry Room on the CMT Artist of the Year Awards. Jacob rocked his full Black Label outfit with the vintage style mahogany finish and pre-aged wood hoops. Check it out:

Friday Flashback! Lime acrylic jungle kit…

This Friday Flashback dates from early 2006. This jungle/hip-hop/dj-drummer style kit features a 10″x6″ Hybrid Snare Drum, Lime Acrylic 12″ snare, 10″ and 14″ toms, 18″x18″ bass drum and matching woofer. Custom features included all brass hardware, 50% offset lugs, Gauger Alloy RIMS mounts, matching woofer, brass-wrapped bass hoops, and Dunnett R-Class strainers. Starglow Acrylic kit for The Next

Nothing glows quite like our Starglow white acrylic. This kit is going to get some serious use in the clubs of the north east with The Next – a hot new group featuring the talented Anthony Baker on drums. Distressed Acid-Etched Copper on a 14″x7″ Phattie Snare

The latest addition to the Copper Collection is this dark “Distressed Acid Etched” finish. Featuring black undertones with shiny streaks of copper between them, it has a much more earthy and dark look than the Blue-Etched and Drip-Etched finishes. Featuring a 10-ply maple shell in our popular 14″x7″ size, this Phattie snare sounds as good as it looks. Black plated hardware, a Trick GS007 strainer, Puresound wires and solid-brass tube lugs make for a stunning package. Check it out:

Phattie Nesting Kit, 10″, 14″, 18″, with matching snare!

There’s nothing quite like being able to cart your drumset from gig to gig in just one bag. This kit is another great example of the quality and sound possible with our nesting drum sets. Featuring a 10″x8″ rack tom, 14″x11″ floor tom, 18″x21″ bass drum and a matching 14″x5″ snare, this whole setup fits into one nice travel case. The seams are expertly cut and feature a reinforcement ring that adds structural rigidity and keeps the sections of the drum in-round to each other. The result is a big sound from a little package. Custom features on this kit include the Modern Mahogany satin lacquer, Tear-Drop style lugs, DW Rail mount, and the adjustable latches on the nesting drums. Check it out:

Nested kits travel with each drum in a Protection Racket soft case. Photo below shows them without cases, just to illustrate how it works. I don’t recommend carting them around town like this, would be a little rough on the beautiful finish:

StarGlow Acrylic Custom Phattie Set

A beautiful example of StarGlow acrylic, this one comes with a video sample so you can check how smooth and even the glow of our low profile LED systems are. The drums are standard Phattie Acrylic specs: dual 45 degree bearing edges with a smooth contact patch, solid brass tube lugs, Gauger Alloy RIMS mounts, Evans heads, etc. The sizes include 10″x10″, 12″x11″, and 13″x12″ hanging toms, 22″x18″ bass and 14″x7″ snare drum. This custom LED install includes double-density LED’s and a custom controller that offers independent control of individual channels. The final result is a smooth looking kit, with or without the lights on. Check it out:

Nesting drum set with inlaid wood hoops

Nesting kits are great for the drummer on the move. Easy to pack and port around, each nesting kit we build can be transported in a single case. This Phattie nesting kit features a 10″x8″ rack tom, 14″x11″ nesting floor tom, 18″x20″ nesting bass drum and a matching 14″x5″ snare. Each drum includes a soft case that slides smoothly inside the next drum. 10″ fits smoothly into the 14″ floor tom, and the floor tom and snare both fit cleanly inside the 18″ bass. Beautiful inlaid wood hoops and a modern mahogany satin lacquer prove that nesting kits don’t have to be just utilitarian, they can be beautiful as well. Check it out:

October has featured a number of beautiful kits, and I’m happy to send out the month on a very high note! This unique set of Phattie Drums features a deep purple stain with a Kandy black burst topped in a high gloss lacquer. Under the beautiful clear coat is a 1/4″ silver leaf inlay that compliments the chrome hardware perfectly. The sizes include 10″x8″, 12″x9″, and 14″x10″ rack toms, 16″x14″ floor tom, 22″x18″ bass and a matching 14″x6.5″ snare. Custom touches include chrome Pearl Optimounts, 1/4″ silver leaf inlay, diecast hoops on the snare and tear-drop style lugs all around. Check it out:

New Beard Phatties sneak in behind Fred Armisen

Fred Armisen, of SNL and Portlandia fame, actually has a background as a musician and full-time drummer. While he doesn’t play drums in this clip, the lighted Phatties built for New Beard to make a nice appearance. It’s a cool clip filled with talent.
