Today’s kit is a sharp looking set of Phattie Hybrids. StarGlow acrylic centers combined with our LED lighting provide for an awesome effect against the black glass glitter and black hardware. The sizes on this custom setup include 8″x8″, 10″x8″, and 12″x8″ rack toms, 14″x14″ and 18″x16″ floor toms and a thumping 22″x20″ bass drum. Pearl Optimounts were used on the rack toms, and custom machined to fit Yamaha tom brackets that were powder coated black to match. Other custom touches include a full DMX controller with built-in light board, black Gauger Alloy RIMS cradles, a deep-dish front bass hoop, and Phattie Custom Shop badges placed discreetly so they don’t interfere with the light show. Been feeling a little nostalgic this week, having crossed the 10-years-in-business threshold recently. So for today’s good times, here’s a shot of my first kit I bought myself back in the day. I believe they originated in the factory that eventually became Pearl. Japanese imports with Slingerland knock-off hardware, and a very faded Red Glass Glitter finish. 12″x8″, 16″x16″, 20″X14″, and a 14″x5.5″ snare. Found them in a classified ad from a pawn shop around 15 years ago, and to this day they still get a little stick time.
