Several months ago you may have seen the post about our the new house kit for Echo Mountain, if not you should check it out by clicking here, it’s a beautiful kit that sounds amazing. G. Love and Special Sauce just finished recording their new album at Echo Mountain, with the Avett Brothers producing it. Check out this trailer for a look at the new G. Friday Flashback! G. Love Japan backline kit

Today’s Friday Flashback dates from around the middle of 2003. This 12″x8″, 16″x16″, and 20″x14″ set of Phatties was finished in a custom Duco style sparkle lacquer and outfitted with Slingerland style lugs and Stick Saver hoops, for a classy old-school vibe all around. The finish was a compliment to the blue & silver sparkle lacquer duco style kit we built that was being used as the U.S. backline kit at the time. As soon as this kit was done, it started life as their permanent backline kit in Japan, and is still being used. Friday Flashback! G. Love on tour with 311…

In the summer of 2003 G. Love and Special Sauce toured with 311 for a couple of months. Our friend and groove-master Jeffrey Houseman Clemens was rocking his first set of Phattie Drums in Green Sparkle. This kit featured a 12″x8″ rack tom, 16″x16″ floor, 24″x14″ bass, and two snares in 14″ and 10″ diameters. The 14″ was playing backup to the amazing ’50′s Ludwig you’ll see in the photo, and the 10″ was tucked to the left as a nice accent snare. After the photos is a DVD promo from about the same time/tour era, check it out for some cool clips of Houseman’s kit and a little look behind the scenes of life with G.
