Phattie Hybrid Kit, Black Glass over Starglow Acrylic

Today’s kit is a sharp looking set of Phattie Hybrids. StarGlow acrylic centers combined with our LED lighting provide for an awesome effect against the black glass glitter and black hardware. The sizes on this custom setup include 8″x8″, 10″x8″, and 12″x8″ rack toms, 14″x14″ and 18″x16″ floor toms and a thumping 22″x20″ bass drum. Pearl Optimounts were used on the rack toms, and custom machined to fit Yamaha tom brackets that were powder coated black to match. Other custom touches include a full DMX controller with built-in light board, black Gauger Alloy RIMS cradles, a deep-dish front bass hoop, and Phattie Custom Shop badges placed discreetly so they don’t interfere with the light show. Phattie 13″x8″ Hybrid in Paua Abalone & Clear

On the heels of a fair bit of abalone inlay work we’ve done recently comes a beautiful Phattie Hybrid snare that features more than just an inlay. Featuring a 13″x8″ shell made up of two maple sections and a clear acrylic center, the 10-ply maple is finished in real Paua Abalone shell for a beautiful look unlike anything else. Complimenting the stunning finish are solid brass tube lugs, a Trick GS007 strainer, Puresound snare wires, stainless steel fasteners and our precision craftsmanship. As we count down the days until the 21st Annual Chicago Drum Show, here’s another little beauty that will be on display. It’s a copper/maple hybrid featuring a 12″x7″ maple shell under a layer of acid etched copper. The black hardware really brings the finish to life, and due to the organic nature of the finishing process it’s truly one-of-a-kind. Phattie Hybrid Snare featuring real Paua Abalone

Paua Abalone shell is one of natures most beautiful creations, with a color and depth that can’t be duplicated with mere wraps or custom paints. This Phattie Hybrid Snare is 14″x6.5″ and features 10-ply maple edges fully covered in stunning Paua Abalone shell. Other features include a custom laser engraved wooden badge, solid brass tube lugs, Trick GS007 strainer and PureSound snare wires. Hybrid Maple/Acrylic/Maple drums are a relatively new development in the drum world. Wooden inlays are timeless and have been used by luthiers for many, many years. This deep 13″x8″ Phattie snare combines the best of both worlds for a sharp modern look with a classic wood working touch. The maple sections are 10-Ply Maple with 1/2″ wide ebony, cherry and maple inlays. The center section is 1/4″ clear acrylic, check it out:

Sometimes a color combo comes out even sweeter than I’d hoped! This hybrid mashes a purple acrylic center with red sparkle and looks killer. Specs: 14″x6″, 10-ply maple sections with a 1/4″ thick acrylic center, solid brass tube lugs, Trick GS007 strainer, puresound wires, all the standard goodies. Good way to start off the Friday:

Phattie Hybrids with Quick Action Drum Lugs

This fresh set of Phattie Hybrids features the new Quick Action Drum Lug all around, with custom RIMS mounting and bass hoop lugs. The Quick Action Drum Lugs are a quick-release style lug that works different than other quick release lugs on the market. Once all the tension rods on a head have been loosened, you just turn the hoop to the side and they all slide right out of the lug. This system is also designed to not interfere with the RIMS mounts. Heads can be removed and swapped while the drum stays on the stand, no problem! The lug inserts stay on the tension rod when the hoops are removed, preventing the tension rods from sliding off the hoops, getting lost, etc. This function is the same on the bass drum hoops, when the hoop comes off the tension rods can’t slip out of the hoop lugs, they stay attached, making head swaps a piece of cake. In case you missed it, check out this beautiful Red Glass Glitter & Clear Hybrid Kit, then check out these cool accessories crafted to match. The stick holder is 6″ in diameter and is fully wrapped, even on the bottom, to match the kit. The laptop tray features 1/4″ heavy duty acrylic with a recessed tom bracket for mounting, and a glass glitter wrapped edge tapped and bolted into the acrylic to keep things from sliding around. Adding these accessories is another cool example of “if you can think it up, we can make it look good”. Dig it:

It’s early Monday morning, and if you’re a drum fanatic that needs a cup of coffee to get moving, the video below just might work for you!

This kit is a Phattie Hybrid Series that features 10″x8″ and 12″x9″ rack toms, 14″x12″ and 16″x14″ floor toms, a thumping 22″x20″ bass, and a matching 14″x8″ snare. The finish is Broken Glass Glitter with lightly frosted clear acrylic inserts and classic tear-drop style lugs holding it all together. The lighting system was created in-house, and features multiple channels of control allowing different drums to be different colors, and greatly expands the light-show possibilities and programming options of the kit. This kit features a unique blend of options, for a broad range of setups. The rack toms are 10″x7.5″, 12″x8″, and 14″x10″. The floor tom is a 16″x16″, and is paired with a matching 18″x18″ cocktail drum. Rounding out the setup is a 20″x18″ bass, a 10″x3.5″ timbale, and a 13″x3.5″ cocktail snare. The setup possibilities are endless! The matching 18″ cocktail drum can double as a 2nd floor tom, or can be used as a single floor tom with the 14″ rack for a big rock setup. The 10″ and 12″ rack toms can be mounted on the 18″ cocktail drum, along with the 13″ snare, for all types of smaller gigs. A 10/14/20 setup for jazz night? No problem!
