Today’s kit combines a beautiful birds eye maple veneer, deep golden amber stain, and a 1/2″ Paua Abalone inlay all buried under a high gloss lacquer. The sizes include 10″x7″ and 12″x7″ rack toms, a 14″x12″ floor tom, and 20″X14″ bass drum. Custom touches include DW brackets, a double tom holder mounted on the bass drum, and die cast hoops. This Black Label set recently came back through the shop on it’s way to a new owner. The finish was freshened up and the beautiful results can be seen below. At the core are the 100% maple 8-ply shells in a 12″x8″, 14″x14″, and 20″x16″. A veneer of light Birds Eye Maple and a 1/4″ strip of Abalone are protected beneath many layers of a perfect satin lacquer for a stunning, yet subtle finish. This is a great looking & sounding 13″x5″ snare. The shell is 10-plies of maple with an outer veneer of Quilted Maple. Dyed deep red and topped with a high-gloss clear, this drum really stands out. This particular kit featured a red oak burl veneer created by book-matching the veneer from small sheets from the same log. This involves carefully slicing the veneer to match up the grain lines, to create mirror images of it around the drum. The labor is intensive, but the final product is beautiful. The sizes are 12″x8″, 14″x14″, 18″x14″, and a matching 14″x4″ snare. The veneer is finished with a thick layer of polyester, buffed to a mirror shine. There is no coloring or staining, that is the natural hue of the red oak burl. A great sounding jazz kit suitable for the classiest gig:
