This is a one-off custom snare recently wrapped up for Chris Thompson with the Eli Young Band. He’s been touring with a Phattie 14″x6.5″ Black Brass snare for the last year, and was ready for something with a little more bite to it. This drum fit the bill perfectly! The shell is 14″x5″ and 1/16″ thick with rounded bearing edges. It’s tricked out with a Dunnett R2 Throw-off that features a quick release feature for quick head changes without having to take off the snare wires. Ten solid-brass tube lugs and the heavy die-cast hoops give this drum a bite that the deeper and thinner 14″x6.5″ just didn’t have. This unique Phattie Hybrid Snare is one of the better looking combination’s we’ve built over the years. The Ruby Red acrylic insert floats between sections of 10-ply maple finished in flat black, with flat black powder coating on all the hardware. A Dunnett R-Class strainer in black, 42-strand snare wires, and die cast hoops make sure this drum sounds and functions just as good as it looks.

This is one of our Black Brass snares custom outfitted with chrome hardware and a Dunnett R-Class Strainer. This is the same model and size on tour with the Eli Young Band, with the exception of the chrome hardware. You can learn more about these snares by clicking here.
