October has featured a number of beautiful kits, and I’m happy to send out the month on a very high note! This unique set of Phattie Drums features a deep purple stain with a Kandy black burst topped in a high gloss lacquer. Under the beautiful clear coat is a 1/4″ silver leaf inlay that compliments the chrome hardware perfectly. The sizes include 10″x8″, 12″x9″, and 14″x10″ rack toms, 16″x14″ floor tom, 22″x18″ bass and a matching 14″x6.5″ snare. Custom touches include chrome Pearl Optimounts, 1/4″ silver leaf inlay, diecast hoops on the snare and tear-drop style lugs all around. Check it out:

This smooth Phattie setup features a 12″x8″ rack tom, 15″x13″ and 16″x14″ floor toms, a thumping 22″x20″ bass, and matching 14″x5.5″ snare. The finish is White Pearl with two thin Black Pearl stripes inlaid nice and flush, and right under the resonant-side lugs. Custom touches include the Dunnett R4 strainer, old school Ludwig mufflers in the toms and snare, black lacquer bass hoops with old school inlays, and the Phattie Racing-Stripe bass logo in black sparkle. I’ve got a special Black Label project that’s been in the works for a long time, that you’ll get to see in the next month or so as all the little details come together and it gets wrapped up. This one has required some special parts sourcing and design work on a number of levels, from the very custom finish to getting exactly the right vintage hardware. The vintage gear heads will appreciate the quality of the chrome on this Rogers mount, one of the special pieces to the puzzle of this killer project:

This is a great looking & sounding 13″x5″ snare. The shell is 10-plies of maple with an outer veneer of Quilted Maple. Dyed deep red and topped with a high-gloss clear, this drum really stands out. Here’s a unique drum we recently built for our friend Murph. We provided a flat-black lacquered cocktail kit with traditional radio-king style hardware and had it shipped over to Igor of Igor’s Customs in Virginia Beach. Igor did the amazing pin striping job, and here’s a sneak peek at the final product. We’ll get some great live shots as soon as we can catch Murph playing this thing live. For now, here’s a peek:
