Nesting kits are great for the drummer on the move. Easy to pack and port around, each nesting kit we build can be transported in a single case. This Phattie nesting kit features a 10″x8″ rack tom, 14″x11″ nesting floor tom, 18″x20″ nesting bass drum and a matching 14″x5″ snare. Each drum includes a soft case that slides smoothly inside the next drum. 10″ fits smoothly into the 14″ floor tom, and the floor tom and snare both fit cleanly inside the 18″ bass. Beautiful inlaid wood hoops and a modern mahogany satin lacquer prove that nesting kits don’t have to be just utilitarian, they can be beautiful as well. Check it out:

October has featured a number of beautiful kits, and I’m happy to send out the month on a very high note! This unique set of Phattie Drums features a deep purple stain with a Kandy black burst topped in a high gloss lacquer. Under the beautiful clear coat is a 1/4″ silver leaf inlay that compliments the chrome hardware perfectly. The sizes include 10″x8″, 12″x9″, and 14″x10″ rack toms, 16″x14″ floor tom, 22″x18″ bass and a matching 14″x6.5″ snare. Custom touches include chrome Pearl Optimounts, 1/4″ silver leaf inlay, diecast hoops on the snare and tear-drop style lugs all around. Check it out:

Today’s Nesting Cocktail Kit features some touches from the Custom Shop that turn it into a real head turner. Sizes include the standard 10″x6″ snare, 10″x8″ rack tom, and 16″x24″ cocktail drum. Custom touches include a beautiful Burnt Sienna satin lacquer with a light fade that continues onto the yamaha-style wood hoops. The nearly seamless nesting feature blends right into the finish, and tube lugs replace the usual Radio King style lugs for a modern vibe. Check out the last photo for the contour cut spacers used on the floor tom leg brackets, airbrushed to match the fade on the shell. It’s all about the details, and this setup pulls them together into a beautiful package that fits into one bag.

This classy Deluxe Cocktail Kit features a beautiful Burnt Toast satin lacquer fade. Created entirely with our environmentally friendly water-based lacquers the satin sheen and pronounced grain make this one beautiful setup. Features include the standard 10″x6″ snare, 10″x8″ tom, and 16″x24″ cocktail drum featuring our fully interchangeable mounting system. The air brushing is done as a burst on the main drum, and a fade on the tom and snare, so when the kit is setup the finish matches across the drums. Looks great, check it out:

Friday Flashback! Deep Blue Satin Burst over maple…

This Friday Flashback kit goes way back to late 2003, and is a set of Phattie Classic Series that featured a smooth deep blue-to-black burst. The sizes were 8″x7″, 10″x8″, 12″x9″, and 14″x14″, with a beefy 24″x18″ bass. All with chrome tear-drop lugs and Pearl BT3 style suspension mounts. This sweet little set of custom Phattie Drums featured a 10″x6″ rack tom, 13″x12″ floor tom, and a 18″x16″ bass. Custom touches include chrome Tear Drop lugs and a custom mixed Black Cherry satin lacquer. The thin maple Keller VSS shells and our unique Phattie bearing edge profile provide a huge sound from this little package, check it out:

Sounds Like Art Dragon Snare, some detail shots…

Several Dragon Snares shipped out this week, all 14″x7″ with Maple shells. This one has our “Scorched Maple” finish with all chrome hardware. The shell is just a hair under 1″ thick and is made using stave construction before carving. The result is an amazing piece of art that has an perfect blend of attack and warmth. Check out these close-ups of the detail that goes into construction:

Notice how the tail wraps under the butt plate? It’s all about the details…

Phattie Bronze Acrylic Kit, One up and two down…

Bronze Acrylic is perhaps one of the perfect colors for Acrylic kits, up there with our popular Coke Bottle Green. Lighter than the Smoke acrylic, it lets more light through for a great stage presence, but dark enough that its not totally transparent. This kit features a 12″x9″ rack tom, 14″x12″ and 16″x14″ floor toms, and a thumping 24″x18″ bass drum. Finished with chrome hardware and chrome-wrapped maple hoops, it’s one smooth looking setup:
