As we count down the days until the 21st Annual Chicago Drum Show, here’s another little beauty that will be on display. It’s a copper/maple hybrid featuring a 12″x7″ maple shell under a layer of acid etched copper. The black hardware really brings the finish to life, and due to the organic nature of the finishing process it’s truly one-of-a-kind. Here’s a sweet little Phattie 14″x6″ snare that features one of our new Custom Wraps. This particular one features a glass glitter base with a black background and yellow flames, accented by red air-brushed style highlights. It’s a great example of what’s possible, check out the custom wraps page to learn more. Specs on this build include a 14″x6″ maple shell, Phattie bearing edges, black hardware, Evans heads, Puresound wires, Trick GS007, solid brass tube lugs and all the normal goodies. This build featured a custom 13″ x 1/2″ thick stave shell that provides plenty of attack and solid, thick-sounding rim shots. This is the first drum I’ve done using black chrome plated hardware over the copper pearl wrap, and it’s a beautiful combination. Check it out:
This sweet 14″x7″ 10-Ply maple Phattie features one of the coolest sparkle wraps around. The “Modern Sparkle” style wrap features small metallic flakes that replicate the look of an automotive paint job. A charcoal base color with silver and blue pinstripes compliments the black hardware nicely. To help it perform just as good as it looks a Trick GS007 strainer, Evans batter head, Puresound wires, and Phattie bearing-edge come standard. Check it out:
There are several new Sounds Like Art snares in the works and being prototyped; Todays post features the first 13″x6.5″ Dragon Snare to roll out of the shop. Featuring the popular Scorched Maple satin-lacquer finish, black hardware, Trick GS007, and wood hoops in a matching Scorched Maple finish, this drum has a seriously beefy sound for a 13″. The shell is over 3/4″ thick at the bearing edges and combined with the wood hoops the rim shots are incredibly solid and thick sounding.
