It’s hard to capture all the little details that go into a Sounds Like Art snare drum. Here’s a 14″x7″ Dragon with a Scorched Maple finish, filmed close-up in HD. Check it out for a 360 degree view of the carving and finishing that goes into one:

Here’s a sweet little 14″x7″ Phattie Acrylic Snare that features a Starglow acrylic shell. With the lights off it’s a smooth glossy white, but with the lights on it glows smooth and even like nothing else out there. Check out the video for an example of some of the controls. All black-chrome hardware, a TRICK GS007 strainer, and Evans heads wrapped up this one nicely, dig it:

This Black Label snare features the popular True Black glass glitter finish, and was custom ordered with a Ludwig P40662 internal muffler, Dunnett R-Class strainer, Evans heads and gated die-cast hoops. The result turned out to be one classy drum with the perfect balance of body and attack, check it out:

Today’s drum is a 14″x7″ Sounds Like Art Dragon Snare that recently made it’s way to Australia. The Sounds Like Art snares feature stave-construction shells out of various woods, and detailed 3D carvings that set them apart from anything else. This snare features a maple shell nearly 1″ thick, for a tight sound with lots of projection and cut. The 7″ depth makes sure the drum still has a lot of body and a thick sound to it, so it’s not just the cut/attack you hear. Black chrome hardware, a black Trick strainer, and custom ordered Evans heads round out this package for an awesome look, check it out:

This beautiful Black Label kit features great classic rock’n'roll sizes with a 13″x9″ rack tom, 16″x16″ floor tom, 24″x14″ bass, and a deep 14″x7″ snare. The finish is True Black glass glitter and custom touches include a shell mounted cymbal holder and rail mount on the bass, double row of lugs on the snare, and a Ludwig P40662 internal tone control on the snare. Here’s what Tim had to say when they arrived:
“Well, the kit showed up yesterday safe and sound. It’s hard for me to tell you how happy I am with them. Not only are they absolutely beautiful, they sound amazing! Right out of the case. The bass sounds great with nothing in it. I’ve got the very same head combo on my 24” Slingerland, and I had to put one of those Evans EQ pillows in it to get the sound I wanted. I bought one for the new drum, but I don’t think I’ll need it. Everything about them from the shells, to the hardware looks to be very high quality, and the cases are fantastic as well. Quality is something I know. I’ve work as a machinist, and now as a inspector for a aerospace manufacture here in Dayton for quite a while. It has been such a long time since I bought something, and was really happy with what I got. My hat is off to you, and your crew for the outstanding care, and talent that you put into your product. I hope you saved a few nice pics of them to put on your daily blog.
Thank you much!
Tim”
Thanks for the kind words Tim, I’m glad you’re stoked about your new gear. And on to the photos we did save of this killer setup:
