With a tone that’s warm, organic and highly desirable, the Steam Bent kits are also a joy to look at. This set shows off the grain of the 1-ply maple with a simple satin lacquer finish complimented by Radio King style chrome hardware and matching chrome-wrapped maple bass hoops. The sizes include 10″x7.5″ and 12″x7.5″ rack toms, 14″x14″ and 16″x14″ floor toms, and a 20″x16″ bass drum. A versatile setup that’s getting a workout with drummer Lemuel Hayes. Check it out:

Black Label set with a Birds Eye Maple veneer and Paua Abalone inlay

Today’s kit combines a beautiful birds eye maple veneer, deep golden amber stain, and a 1/2″ Paua Abalone inlay all buried under a high gloss lacquer. The sizes include 10″x7″ and 12″x7″ rack toms, a 14″x12″ floor tom, and 20″X14″ bass drum. Custom touches include DW brackets, a double tom holder mounted on the bass drum, and die cast hoops. Finished in one of the classiest colors we offer, this Black Label setup is ready for any blues, jazz, acoustic, etc. gig you can throw at it. This set of Phattie Drums dates from around early 2004. Featuring a beautiful Red Onyx finish over classic sizes, Slingerland lugs and a DW Rail Mount really complete the vintage vibe. The toms are 12″x8″, 14″x14″, and 16″x16″, with a matching 20″x14″ bass and 14″x6.5″ snare. It’s kits like this that eventually grew into the Black Label concept that we now offer. Check it out:

Been feeling a little nostalgic this week, having crossed the 10-years-in-business threshold recently. So for today’s good times, here’s a shot of my first kit I bought myself back in the day. I believe they originated in the factory that eventually became Pearl. Japanese imports with Slingerland knock-off hardware, and a very faded Red Glass Glitter finish. 12″x8″, 16″x16″, 20″X14″, and a 14″x5.5″ snare. Found them in a classified ad from a pawn shop around 15 years ago, and to this day they still get a little stick time.
