This Friday Flashback features a beautiful rock setup in a Rootbeer Sparkle Lacquer finish. Dating from sometime in early 2006, this kit features a 13″x9″, 16″x16″, 18″x16″, 26″x18″ and a matching 14″x8″ snare. The finish is an automotive lacquer featuring House of Kolor Kandy over a base made from heavy silver flakes, and is absolutely stunning under the lights. Our unique PhatRat lug with polished brass inserts compliments the finish perfectly, check it out:

This kit is on the way to our friend Jay who runs Blueberry Hill Bass. Blueberry Hill specializes in finding the most talented, skilled, and experienced luthiers and connecting them with bass players looking for a unique world-class instrument. I like to think that Jay’s exceptional taste in bass guitars also applies to drums, and look forward to the feedback on this beauty. This kit features a 13″x9″ rack tom, 16″x16″ floor, and 22″x16″ bass. Custom features include regular key-rods on the bass (vintage t-handles are standard on Black Labels), 2.3mm hoops for a fatter sound, and a Fiberskyn resonant head with 6″ Holz and custom Black Label logo. This Friday we’re looking back to 2006, when we built some sweet kits for use in the ’07 catalog. This kit features a Viper Silver base coat with Orange Kandy stripes over a sparkle base, and was photographed on the drag strip at Bristol Motor Speedway. The rack tom was 13″x9″, floor toms of 16″x14″ and 18″x16″, with a beefy 24″x20″ bass and matching 14″x8″ snare. A huge rock’n'roll setup with a sweet paint job, one of my favorite kits from the last 10+ years:

This set of Phattie Drums dates from around early 2004. Featuring a beautiful Red Onyx finish over classic sizes, Slingerland lugs and a DW Rail Mount really complete the vintage vibe. The toms are 12″x8″, 14″x14″, and 16″x16″, with a matching 20″x14″ bass and 14″x6.5″ snare. It’s kits like this that eventually grew into the Black Label concept that we now offer. Check it out:
