Starglow Acrylic kit for The Next

Nothing glows quite like our Starglow white acrylic. This kit is going to get some serious use in the clubs of the north east with The Next – a hot new group featuring the talented Anthony Baker on drums. Phattie setup with silver leaf inlays over a deep purple burst…

October has featured a number of beautiful kits, and I’m happy to send out the month on a very high note! This unique set of Phattie Drums features a deep purple stain with a Kandy black burst topped in a high gloss lacquer. Under the beautiful clear coat is a 1/4″ silver leaf inlay that compliments the chrome hardware perfectly. The sizes include 10″x8″, 12″x9″, and 14″x10″ rack toms, 16″x14″ floor tom, 22″x18″ bass and a matching 14″x6.5″ snare. Custom touches include chrome Pearl Optimounts, 1/4″ silver leaf inlay, diecast hoops on the snare and tear-drop style lugs all around. Check it out:

An 8-lug setup and vintage style wood hoops give this Black Label custom snare a ton of body and a nice old school sound. The finish is Perfect Brown satin lacquer and features True Gold Glass Glitter inlays on the vintage-style wood hoops. At the core is a 14″x6.5″ 8-ply maple shell fitted with a Trick GS007 strainer and Puresound snare wires. Another perfect blend of modern touches and classic style, check it out:

Phattie Hybrid Snare featuring real Paua Abalone

Paua Abalone shell is one of natures most beautiful creations, with a color and depth that can’t be duplicated with mere wraps or custom paints. This Phattie Hybrid Snare is 14″x6.5″ and features 10-ply maple edges fully covered in stunning Paua Abalone shell. Other features include a custom laser engraved wooden badge, solid brass tube lugs, Trick GS007 strainer and PureSound snare wires. Checkerboard Glass Glitter on a Phattie 14″x6.5″

Here’s another example of our unique custom glass glitter wraps. This 14′x6.5″ Phattie snare features a black & silver glass glitter checkerboard pattern, optional die cast hoops, and the standard Trick GS007 strainer, Evans heads, Puresound wires, etc. Great looking snare, check it out:

Steam Bent 14″x6.5″ with the Top Hat & Cane treatment

Here’s a close-up look at a recently completed snare that was part of this cool kit. The shell is a 14″x6.5″ 1-Ply Steam Bent maple with matching reinforcement rings, wrapped in a pre-aged marine pearl with the Top Hat & Cane pattern recreated over it. The hardware includes individual radio king lugs top and bottom, stick saver hoops, Dunnett R4 strainer, Puresound wires, and the classy new Steam Bent 1-Ply round badge. Check it out:

Avett Brothers ring in the new year on their new Black Labels

Happy New Year! Lets kick it off with some exciting news: The Avett Brothers took delivery of their new kit just in time for the sold-out New Years Eve show in Asheville, and are now rockin’ an awesome set of Black Label drums. A heavy vintage vibe was desired from this setup, both to compliment the sound and the aesthetics of their style. The result is a Black Label kit featuring 13″x9″ and 16″x16″ wood-hooped toms, a 22″x14″ bass, and a 14″x6.5″ snare. Finish is a custom mixed blend of reds and browns to create a very old-school mahogany, and the hoops have a deep amber and tobacco mix on them to give that aged vibe. Lugs are Radio King reproductions with a brushed satin nickel style finish, and coated heads were used top and bottom to get that really warm old-school sound. Even the Silver Glass Glitter inlay on the bass hoops was pre-aged and features no gloss, a perfect match to the hardware and hoops.

Steam-bent Purple Heart Phattie Snare

Purple Heart is a unique wood that is very dense and has beautiful natural coloring. These two features make it an ideal wood for building great snare drums. The density of the wood combined with a nice rounded bearing edge and the die-cast hoops give this drum a thick rimshot that you can feel in your chest. The natural coloring of the wood requires nothing but a satin clear coat to pull out it’s beauty, and black hardware to add to the contrast. A stunning little snare drum, check it out:

This set of Phattie Drums dates from around early 2004. Featuring a beautiful Red Onyx finish over classic sizes, Slingerland lugs and a DW Rail Mount really complete the vintage vibe. The toms are 12″x8″, 14″x14″, and 16″x16″, with a matching 20″x14″ bass and 14″x6.5″ snare. It’s kits like this that eventually grew into the Black Label concept that we now offer. Check it out:

Many drummers dream of having a single kit that can be configured for any gig. Occasionally a drummer makes that dream come true! This beautiful Perfect Brown Satin kit includes wood hoop toms in 8″x8″, 10″x8″, 12″x9″, 14″x14″, 16″x16″, and 18″x16″ sizes. Steel hooped toms in 12″x9″, 16″x16″, and 18″x16″ sizes. Bass drums include two 24″x22″, a 22″x20″, a 22″x10″ woofer, and a conversion kit for the 18″ wood hooped tom to be used as a bass. Snares included a 14″x4″ 10-ply maple, 14″x6″ 15-ply maple, and a 14″x8″ 10-ply maple. This variety of sizes allows for dozens of unique configurations that cover any gig. From a small 3-piece bop kit to an arena rock setup, the configurations are nearly endless.
