Black Label jazz kit in light Birds Eye with Abalone inlays

This Black Label set recently came back through the shop on it’s way to a new owner. The finish was freshened up and the beautiful results can be seen below. At the core are the 100% maple 8-ply shells in a 12″x8″, 14″x14″, and 20″x16″. A veneer of light Birds Eye Maple and a 1/4″ strip of Abalone are protected beneath many layers of a perfect satin lacquer for a stunning, yet subtle finish. Radio King style hardware and heavy duty spurs complete the package, for a “retro-mod” style kit. The best of what’s old combined with the best of what’s new, in a very classy package. Check it out:

Phattie Hybrid Kit, Black Glass over Starglow Acrylic

Today’s kit is a sharp looking set of Phattie Hybrids. StarGlow acrylic centers combined with our LED lighting provide for an awesome effect against the black glass glitter and black hardware. The sizes on this custom setup include 8″x8″, 10″x8″, and 12″x8″ rack toms, 14″x14″ and 18″x16″ floor toms and a thumping 22″x20″ bass drum. Pearl Optimounts were used on the rack toms, and custom machined to fit Yamaha tom brackets that were powder coated black to match. Other custom touches include a full DMX controller with built-in light board, black Gauger Alloy RIMS cradles, a deep-dish front bass hoop, and Phattie Custom Shop badges placed discreetly so they don’t interfere with the light show. New Black Label kit for Sioux Sioux Studios

Pretty finishes and sharp photos don’t mean a thing without great sound. I’m happy to share the news that another studio, Sioux Sioux Studios out of Charlotte, is now rockin’ this beautiful set of Black Labels as their house kit. (Other North Carolina studios include Echo and Sound Temple) This setup features a 12″x8″ rack tom with suspension mount, 14″x14″ and 16″x16″ floor toms, and a thumping 22″x16″ bass drum. The finish is a beautiful Burnt Sienna satin lacquer with a light airbrushed fade. The bass hoops feature a pre-aged maple stain and satin glass glitter inlays. The result is a beautiful setup that compliments the vibe of the studio in both looks and sound. Check it out:

Black Label Jazz Kit in True Gold Glass Glitter

This smooth little jazz & bop set features the classic 12″x8″ rack tom, 14″x14″ floor tom, and 18″x14″ bass drum. The True Gold Glass Glitter (sometimes called bronze or ginger) gives the perfect vintage vibe to the Black Label sets. Phattie in True Black Glass with Turquoise Inlays

The center piece of todays kit is a massive 24″x24″ bass drum that sounds every bit as huge as it looks! Second to the sound, the best part about having so much real estate is how good the finish turned out and the contrast between the colors. Wrapped in True Black Glass Glitter with Turquoise Glass Glitter inlays and set against black-chrome hardware; the sizes are 12″x8″, 16″x14″, 24″x24″, and a matching 13″x6″ snare. Custom touches that really add to the overall look included the Phattie Racing Stripe bass logo in black glitter, the contrasting wrap on the inside of the bass hoop, and offset lugs. Check it out:

Phattie in White Pearl, with a touch of Black

This smooth Phattie setup features a 12″x8″ rack tom, 15″x13″ and 16″x14″ floor toms, a thumping 22″x20″ bass, and matching 14″x5.5″ snare. The finish is White Pearl with two thin Black Pearl stripes inlaid nice and flush, and right under the resonant-side lugs. Custom touches include the Dunnett R4 strainer, old school Ludwig mufflers in the toms and snare, black lacquer bass hoops with old school inlays, and the Phattie Racing-Stripe bass logo in black sparkle. Here’s something worth making a weekend post about: A 7-piece Clear Acrylic Phattie kit with full DMX controls. This kit features 10″x8″ and 12″x8″ rack toms, 14″x14″, 15″x14″ and 16″x14″ floor toms, a 20″x18″ bass and a 13″x7″ snare (not pictured). Built using RCI clear acrylic shells and brushed-satin hardware, this kit delivers in both sounds and looks. The ultra low-profile LED install was designed, wired, and installed in-house for maximum brightness while keeping an almost invisible presence when not in-use. Once the kit is setup with stands and cymbals, you’ve got no idea what’s coming until it powers up! Black Label Bop Kit in Vintage Gold Glass Glitter

This smooth Black Label bop kit is enroute to it’s new home in Norway. Featuring several custom touches that really lock in the vintage vibe, this kit sounded just as good as it looked. The wrap is actual vintage gold glass glitter, made from a different type of crushed glass than the current glitters that are manufactured. The result is a deeper shimmer under bright lights that looks amazing in person. Vintage Gretsch-Style spurs, straight floor tom legs, Radio King style lugs, and die cast hoops compliment the finish perfectly on this one. Sizes are 12″x8″, 14″x14″, and 18″x14″. Check it out:

This kit features a unique blend of options, for a broad range of setups. The rack toms are 10″x7.5″, 12″x8″, and 14″x10″. The floor tom is a 16″x16″, and is paired with a matching 18″x18″ cocktail drum. Rounding out the setup is a 20″x18″ bass, a 10″x3.5″ timbale, and a 13″x3.5″ cocktail snare. The setup possibilities are endless! The matching 18″ cocktail drum can double as a 2nd floor tom, or can be used as a single floor tom with the 14″ rack for a big rock setup. The 10″ and 12″ rack toms can be mounted on the 18″ cocktail drum, along with the 13″ snare, for all types of smaller gigs. A 10/14/20 setup for jazz night? No problem!
