Here’s a custom job we just wrapped up for Zane with As Sick As Us, a local group that is making some waves. You can check them out tonight at the Boiler Room with Straight Line Stitch. Specs are 10×7 and 12×8 rack toms, 14×12 floor on a suspension cradle, 20×20 kick, and a massive 14×7 snare with 42-strand wires. The wood sections were stained inside and out, while leaving the bearing edges and joint overlaps natural maple. The contrast turned out great, check it out:

This is one of our Black Brass snares custom outfitted with chrome hardware and a Dunnett R-Class Strainer. This is the same model and size on tour with the Eli Young Band, with the exception of the chrome hardware. You can learn more about these snares by clicking here. It’s off to a great home in Washington, enjoy!

What a lovely color combo! Props to Liz for hooking us up with this shot. If you’ve got a cool shot of your Phatties that you’d like to share, send it to info@staufferpercussion.com and we’ll post it up! The kit pictured is from the Phattie Custom Shop, and features black-nickel hardware over a flat-black wrap.

Here’s a unique drum we recently built for our friend Murph. We provided a flat-black lacquered cocktail kit with traditional radio-king style hardware and had it shipped over to Igor of Igor’s Customs in Virginia Beach. Igor did the amazing pin striping job, and here’s a sneak peek at the final product. We’ll get some great live shots as soon as we can catch Murph playing this thing live. For now, here’s a peek:

Here’s a unique kit we did several months ago for Tyler. The shells are clear acrylic with all white powder coated hardware, including teardrop lugs. 13″ rack tom, 16″ and 18″ floors, and a 20″ bass. Great looking setup, thanks for the pics Tyler!

Here’s one of the hotter projects to leave the Custom Shop this week. The toms are 10×8, 12×8, 14×14, 15×14, with a matching 24×16 bass and 14×6 snare. The fade is a custom satin lacquer, featuring oxblood over a dark walnut base, faded to ebony over oxblood on the hoops. The snare features a Yamaha batter hoop painted to match the fade. The contrast with the black nickel hardware turned out great, and the Gauger Alloy RIMS and Gibraltar STL-3 leg mounts really set it off. Check it out:

Here’s a conversion project we recently finished up, creating a rare sized bass drum. It’s a Ludwig 17 inch field drum/tenor from 1971, converted to a little jazz/bop bass drum. Building the 17 inch bass hoops was a challenge, but the end result is great. Check it out:
