Phase One of the artists page is up! Visit it here, or click the link above. Over the next couple of weeks I’ll continue to add artists to the list, and I’ll be adding videos, interviews, photos, gear specs, and more as time allows. Check it out and see who’s playing Phattie, Black Label, Cocktail, or Sounds Like Art drums.
Blending the styles of Rock, Reggae and Hip-Hop with their smooth musical skills, The Movement is touring hard this summer. Drummer Gary Jackson keeps the tight beat on a set of Black Label drums, finished in a tri-colored Rasta Glass Glitter. His kit features a 12″x8″ rack tom, 14″x14″ floor tom, 24″x14″ bass, and a tight 14″x5″ snare. Check out The Movements tour schedule by clicking here, and don’t miss it if they rock your town this summer. Scroll down for a sound sample and a few words from Gary the last time they played the Orange Peel…
The Eli Young band recently had the opportunity to record “Gimme Three Steps” for the new album Sweet Home Alabama– The Country Music Tribute To Lynyrd Skynyrd. The album drops July 20th, and also includes artists Eric Church, Randy Houser, Shooter Jennings, Jamey Johnson, Uncle Kracker, Randy Montana, Ashley Ray and Eli Young Band. In addition to that new release, the EYB is keeping busy on the road this summer, and will likely show up in a town near you. The Eli Young Band is currently pounding the pavement on the Country Throwdown Tour, hitting cities all over the U.S. with a ton of incredibly talented artists. Click the image above for a list of dates and get yourself there if you’re a fan of rockin’ country music! Last week I had the opportunity to catch a show and deliver a new snare to Chris Thompson, drummer for the Eli Young Band. The snare is 14″x6.5″ clear acrylic with frosted EYB and Phattie logos, and a custom lighting system with remote control. This snare turns heads unlike anything else, watch the video below to get a full sampling of the different colors/fades/flashes/etc. that it is capable of. Very cool stuff, look for several full kits later this summer with similar systems we are currently engineering (or click here to check out one we recently did featuring low-profile LED Black Lights!) Dig it:
Playing this weekend at Country Palooza is our friend and great drummer Dave Stover with Last Train Out. If you haven’t checked them out, follow that last link to listen to some recent recordings on their Myspace page. Dave currently rocks a Phattie setup in a Black Semi-Gloss hand rubbed stain over thin maple shells, with a 12″x10″ rack, 14″x14″ and 16″x14″ floors, and a thumping 24″x18″ bass. He recently added a 14″x7″ Dragon Snare to the mix for a serious snare sound. For those in the Grand Rapids area, you definitely need to make the trek out to see Last Train Out at Country Palooza this weekend, should be a rockin’ family-friendly time all around!
Buzzcocks launched their North America ANOTHER…BITES Tour last night at the Black Cat in DC. Drummer Danny Farrant is rockin’ a fresh set of Black Label drums on this tour, featuring a 12″ rack tom, 16″ floor, 22″ bass, and 14″x5″ snare in Silver Glass Glitter. Danny does an incredible job backing up this legendary British punk rock group, click here for a list of tour dates and don’t miss this show!
