17″ Bass Drum project. Yup, 17″!
Here’s a conversion project we recently finished up, creating a rare sized bass drum. It’s a Ludwig 17 inch field drum/tenor from 1971, converted to a little jazz/bop bass drum. Building the 17 inch bass hoops was a challenge, but the end result is great. Check it out:

Great work as always, Dennis. Can’t wait to take it for a spin!
Hey there,
This drum is on its way to Corte Madera, CA for a little trap kit. Can anyone tell me what make/model of spurs are pictured on it here? At drummaker.com, I saw some Baby Kick Spurs – MODERN Wood hoop type that look similar but not exactly the same. The ones shown in this pic look a little heftier.
Thanks. I can’t wait to beat on this thing.
The spurs are the same as the ones from Drummaker.com, they basically look like cowbell clamps that are flipped over with rubber feet added where the cowbell would go. Holler if I can help with anything else, thanks! Info@StaufferPercussion.com
